All the glitter & the glamor that one can hold.
If I hired out an oil tanker it would surly overflow.
When I take a look around to see what I have missed
I wonder to myself, “How can I get this?”
As the tuxedo clad go by I wonder,
“How can I get this?”
With the gentrified & horrified a waltzing to & fro.
And kids strung out on Ecstasy out of the clubs they flow.
An executrices and some executives all hustle for a cab.
But I wonder to myself, “How can I get this?”
I want an East Side town house, maybe.
How can I get this?
What’s a breaking point I’d ask but
No one is ever there.
Ask the guy who wants a loosie.
But he don’t fucking care.
There is a brink, a jumping off point, that I have never had wont to cross.
But if there is time, the Rubicon will be crossed.
Oh, this ladder has no rungs now.
And mediocrity is dung now.
It’s time or be forever lost.
Now the East River is dirty, filled with guys that haven’t paid.
Wall Street has the bankers milking money so they get laid.
There is urine in the subways, so I’m told, it’s been a while.
Well I say to myself, “How can I get this?”
Could I afford a loft in Soho?
How could I get this?
What’s a breaking point I’d ask but
No one is ever there.
Ask the guy who wants a loosie
But he don’t fucking care.
There is a brink, a jumping off point, that I have never had wont to cross.
But if there is time, the Rubicon will be crossed.
Oh, this ladder has no rungs now.
And mediocrity is dung now.
It’s time or be forever lost.
So, how can I get this?
How do I get this?
Huh? How can I get this?
